When it comes to building your home, the foundations is considered the most important aspect. Sure, the aesthetics of any home are important, but without a good foundation, you'll end up with cracks in your sheet rock, cracks in your brick and future problems that could cost thousands of dollars!

At Harmon Concrete, we've literally installed hundreds of foundations! When it comes to our foundations, there are no shortcuts!

Foundation Steps:

  • The home or garage slab is marked perfectly square
  • The footing is dug according to specifications. Usually 18" - 24" wide and 18" deep. We place rebar in the footing with rebar chairs to hold the rebar off the ground. The rebar is placed in the footing according to code, whether we need an inspection or not.
  • All footings are installed using the latest laser technology.
  • The footing is poured.
  • The footing, once it becomes hard, gets marked square to prepare for the blocks or wall.
  • The wall/blocks are put into place (If using blocks, they get filled with concrete)
  • High quality gravel is used under the slab
  • The gravel gets compacted several times to make sure there aren't any hollow pockets.
  • Vapor barrier is used (ALWAYS!) on top of the gravel.
  • Wire mesh or rebar is put into place.
  • If required, we call for an inspection.
  • The concrete slab is poured and finished to perfection!
