Polished concrete floors have become the perfect flooring solution because they’re inexpensive and very long term as a flooring solution. Not to mention, polished concrete floors are beautiful and very easy to maintain.

To answer the question, “Can my concrete floors be polished?“, the simple answer is, yes. Most concrete surfaces can be polished. However, most concrete floors can be polished unless there are simply too many flaws within the concrete. If the concrete isn’t very structurally sound, it probably wouldn’t be a good candidate for polishing. Even if you have holes, cracks and other flaws in your concrete, more often than not, they can simply be patched, repaired and polished, but an unstable concrete floor would be a bad choice for polished concrete.

In the last few years, we’ve only seen one concrete slab that was simply out of the question for polishing. It belonged to an old power station that was built in the early 1940′s and converted into a restaurant. There were so many things wrong with that floor, I can’t even begin to list them all.

If a concrete slab is in need of too many patches and repairs, it’s probably not going to be a good candidate for polished concrete. The time and effort it would take to repair the floor before polishing would simply make it too expensive. The old power station I mentioned above had patches that were almost 2 inches thick in some spots.
